Westwood First School

Vision and Values

TO BE THE BEST WE CAN BE

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens. They are based on the principles of equality, dignity and respect.

Westwood First School’s vision, ethos and aims are rooted in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. The best interests of the child are a top priority in all our actions and we are committed to placing the values and principles of the Convention at the heart of all our policies and practice.

We achieved the Rights Respecting School Level 2 award in June 2016, the first school in Staffordshire to do so! We were very pleased to gain this award because it reflects the vision, ethos and aims of our school and the values, beliefs and attitudes that we believe are so important to develop. We were reaccredited at Gold standard in November 2019 and again in January 2023.
